30th Annual Firecracker 5K

Alright everyone. Another 5K Run is here. It will be held on July 4th at 1340 9th Street North (US 41) in Naples at 7:00AM. The former site of Pippens’ Restaurant. It will be a good way to get a little extra workout in before the 4th of July fesivities begin. If you decide you would like to join us let me know so I can get you an Anytime Fitness t-shirt to wear during race. See ya at the club.

New Addition & 1 Year Anniversary Celebration

We have added a new personal trainer to the staff here at Anytime Fitness.  His name is Michael Goff.  He hails from Nashville, TN.  He recently graduated from Austin Peay State University with a degree in Health & Human Performance with a concentration in Wellness promotion.  Michael is also  an ACSM (Ameican College of Sports Medicine) Certified Personal Trainer.  He has been personal training for the past 2 years and is eager to continue his work here in Bonita Springs, FL.   Michael is offering the first 10 people who respond to this post or call will get a package of 10 sessions for $200!!!!  That is $150 off of the regular training fees.  Whether you’re wanting to reach those summer time fitness goals or just needing some guidance, this is the ticket for you.  Hurry, there are only 7 spots remaining.  Call or send us an e-mail to get your sessions reserved.  bonitaspringsfl@anytimefitness.com

We are also celebrating our 1 Year Anniversary on  Sunday, June 29th.   There will be 3 free circuit training classes (12PM, 1PM & 2PM).  Sign up in advance, the classes are limited to 10 people per class.  The real fun starts 4-8PM.  We will have free food, guilt free beer & giveaways.  We have even rented an inflatable jousting game.  Check out the attachment to see what I’m talking about.  The referral grill will also be given away.  If the member that wins it is not in attendance then we will keep drawing tickets till someone wins.  It will be alot fun so come out and bring your freinds.  Everyone is invited!  What’s better than free food, booze & jousting.  See ya there.

Exercise of the Week

 Chest on Stability Ball 1  Stability Ball Chest Press 2 Place head & shoulders on ball, keep chin up so neck is in neutral position.

Position feet apart to form good base of stability.                            

Activate transverse (pull belly button towards spine & hold).

Start with weights on chest.

Push both weights towards the ceiling while exhaling.

Upon reaching peak of repetition lower weights back to chest

while inhaling and repeat. Keep body in “plank” position.

Maintain even speed when performing the exercise. Push weights above the chest not over your head.

Rotary 5K Run

It’s time for another run.  The Rotary 5K Run will be held on April 5th, 2008 at the Riverside Park.  The run will start at 7:30 am.  Celebrate Bonita will be held after the run. 

Eggplant Cannelloni Recipe

Chances are, you need to eat more vegetables. This Eggplant Cannelloni makes it easy. Pack in some red peppers and eggplant, and dig into a day’s worth of vitamin C.

THE SKINNY
259 calories per serving
10.7 g fat (4.7 g saturated)
32 g carbs
10.8 g fiber
10.5 g protein

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS
1 tbsp olive oil
4 large shallots, sliced
4 cloves garlic
2 jars (12 oz each) roasted red peppers, drained
Juice of 1 orange (about 1/2 cup)
2 medium eggplants, cut lengthwise into 1/2-inch slices
Olive oil cooking spray
4 oz goat cheese
4 kalamata olives, pitted and minced
1 tsp capers, chopped
2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

PREPARATION
Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Cook shallots and garlic until soft, about 1 minute. Reduce heat. Cook until golden, 3 to 5 minutes. Add peppers and juice; bring to a boil. Lower heat; simmer until peppers are soft, about 5 minutes. Cool. Puree in a blender. Pour into a 9″ x 13″ baking dish. Coat eggplants with cooking spray and broil on a baking sheet until golden on both sides, about 15 minutes. Heat oven to 400?. Mash cheese, olives, capers and 1 tbsp of the parsley in a bowl. Place 1 tbsp of filling at the end of each eggplant slice; roll up. Lay seam side down in dish. Bake 10 to 15 minutes. Top with remaining 1 tbsp parsley.
